Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. They was moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five where she attended at the Dragon School. Emma was inspired to become an actor at age six. Over the course of several years, she attended the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing as well as dancing, and also acting. By the age of ten she had appeared and played as the main character in several Stagecoach shows and school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaption to J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was found by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been selected for the parts. She was cast alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut on the big screen took place in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. This film was 2001's highest production, and it broke records during the opening day as well as the first weekend. The film was praised by critics who praised the film, particularly those who were young. The widely distributed British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performance as admirable. Emma was awarded the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for a feature Film. Emma was awarded five times for her performance in the movie.
